Common Plumbing Mistakes To Avoid

As one of the leading plumbers in Orange County, California for over 30 years, we know that having a plumbing problem can be extremely disruptive and inconvenient. However, we have some good news! Although accidents happen and there are some things we just can’t prevent, there are several other issues that can be avoided as long as the right steps are taken!

To help you minimize the amount of times you need to rush to the phone in an emergency, steer clear of the following plumbing mistakes:

Using your garbage disposal as your only trash can:
Although your garbage disposal is meant to help you manage your waste, you must have another garbage can in your home to collect the items that can’t go down the drain. When you use your garbage disposal to get rid of everything, and we really mean everything, we can pretty much guarantee you’ll need repairs or possibly even replacement at one point or another. The solution? Only use it for items you know it can handle!

Weighing down fixtures:
If you’re trying to conserve space in places like your shower, we know it can be tempting to use storage solutions like shower racks. Unfortunately, though, placing a heavy weighted object on something such as your shower head for this purpose can definitely do some damage.

Abusing your faucets:
Ever have a leak that you thought you could stop by pushing down on your faucet just a little bit harder? Not only will this fail to solve the problem, but it could also further harm your sink and its fixtures! That goes for turning your faucet on and off in normal situations too – you definitely don’t want to be pushing or pulling too hard.
