How To Insulate Your Pipes

Burst Pipe Repair Anaheim | Burst Pipe Repair Orange County | Plumbing in Orange County CA

Although most people don’t associate California with freezing cold temperatures, it isn’t safe to assume that our pipes will never burst. And knowing that the potential for burst pipes can happen just about anywhere, it’s important for you to be prepared! What’s one way to keep your plumbing in check for winter weather? Insulate your pipes, of course! Today, we’re sharing a few tips on how to do so; take a look below.

How To Insulate Your Pipes

Step 1: Start by cleaning your pipes so that you remove any dirt that’s built up over time. Ensuring that your pipes are clean before moving forward with the insulation process can help you give them the best protection possible.

Step 2: After you know which pipes are exposed and need insulating, start measuring their length so that you can determine how much insulation you need.

Step 3: Cut the insulation to the proper size and wrap it around each pipe. To make sure it’s secure, tape, wire or clamp the insulation down every few feet.

Even if you feel that you can properly insulate your pipes yourself, it doesn’t hurt to have a professional like us come in and double check and/or help you out. Here at Barker and Sons Plumbing & Rooter, we can take a look at all of the plumbing in your home to make sure that everything is properly insulated, and if it’s not, we’ll help you install it! And of course, if your pipes have already burst, we can help you fix that too.
