How to Avoid a Halloween Plumbing Disaster

From trick-or-treating to watching scary movies, baking spooky desserts and more, there’s a ton to do on Halloweekend and Halloween itself to celebrate the holiday – that said, we know the last thing you want to have to deal with is a plumbing disaster. Even when there are 24 hour plumbers available to provide emergency service (we’re one of them!), chances are you want your Halloween to be stress-free so that you can just sit back and enjoy.

Knowing this, we want to help – below, learn some tips that you can follow to avoid a major plumbing problem on October 31st this year.

Don’t put pumpkins down the drain.
At the end of the night, don’t use your garbage disposal to get rid of your pumpkins. Truth is, pumpkin pulp and seeds can cause a major clog and result in quite a bit of damage to your plumbing system. More on this here.

Don’t ignore spooky sounds.
It may not be Halloween yet, but have your pipes been making some rather spooky and unsettling sounds lately? If your pipes are rattling and making noise, it could mean that they are not properly secured, or you could have some other underlying issue to deal with – don’t delay, call us today for service!

Don’t abuse your garbage disposal.
Planning to have some friends over for a Halloween party? Make sure your guests know what can and cannot go down your garbage disposal to avoid any mishaps. Especially if you’ll be cooking food or baking Halloween treats, remember that fats and greases NEVER belong in the garbage disposal or down any drain, for that matter.

Don’t treat your toilet like a trash can.
Remember, your toilet is not meant to flush anything other than waste and toilet paper. That means candy wrappers, uneaten candy, pumpkin seeds, leftover Halloween makeup and anything else you can think of belong in the garbage can in your kitchen – not down the toilet.

Even if you take every precaution possible, we know that sometimes plumbing problems pop up unexpectedly – that’s why we’re here 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to assist with plumbing emergencies.

If your plumbing gives you trouble this Halloween, don’t hesitate to give us a call at 714.630.8766 – we’ll have one of our plumbers over to you as soon as possible so you can continue to enjoy the holiday!
