New Year’s Resolutions From a Plumber’s Prospective

*Last updated January 2, 2018.

You may already have some new year’s resolutions for your home, but what about creating some pertaining to your plumbing in particular? After all, your home’s water supply needs love and care, too! If you’re having trouble coming up with good plumbing goals for 2018, never fear. These five plumbing promises will help you ensure your water stays running well into the new year, and beyond.

#1: Be selective with your garbage disposal.

Contrary to popular belief your garbage disposal isn’t a catch-all for your food scraps. There are certain items that should go in the regular trash – like grease, egg shells, pasta and coffee grounds.

#2: Be careful what you flush.

Like your garbage disposal, your toilet can’t handle certain items. In fact, you should limit your flushing to toilet paper only, single-ply! Paper towels, wipes, sanitary products and thicker toilet papers can easily cause a clog, and we know you wouldn’t want that.

#3: Take care of that slow drip.

It may not seem like a big deal, but in reality, that slow drip can be costing you a ton of money in the long run. The EPA, actually estimates that “a leaky faucet that drips at the rate of one drip per second can waste more than 3,000 gallons per year.”

#4: Have your water heater inspected.

While the temperatures in Orange County may not drop all that drastically, we don’t doubt you still enjoy a nice warm shower no matter the season! If you can’t remember the last time you had your water heater maintained, we suggest booking an appointment with your plumber in the new year.

#5: Give your bathroom a facelift.

New Year, New Bathroom! While you’re working on your physique and revamping your diet, why not give your old bathroom the boost it deserves as well. A fresh coat of paint, some new faucets and a fresh set of water-efficient fixtures can give your bathroom the upgrade it requires.
