However, this reality can wreak havoc on the foundation and structural integrity of any home.  Concrete slabs form the bases of most homes and home foundations—and earthquakes can cause significant damage to concrete floor slabs.

Here at Barker & Sons Plumbing, we complete slab leak detections and repairs in Orange County and surrounding areas.  Call us if you observe any indicators of a slab leak. Let’s take a closer look at this.

Detection of Slab Leaks

Slab leak detection is a very important and should be considered separate from slab leak repair.  Some things that could indicate your home has a slab leak include:

  • Warm wet spots on your flooring
  • Higher than normal water bills
  • Sound of water constantly running even when all the faucets are off

All of these could be caused by water leaking under pressure from an inbound water line. Please contact Barker & Sons so that a licensed plumber can come out to your house and detect the leak(s). We’ll use high-tech, non-invasive equipment to detect slab leaks in your Orange County home.

Slab Leak Repair Options

The most common slab leak repair options include epoxy lining and repiping. Epoxy lining involves cleaning the inside of the pipes and then coating it with epoxy, which seals up the holes and stops the leaking. Repiping is the installation of an entirely new network of pipes that completely bypasses the old slab piping. In many cases, we recommend capping off the existing underground pipes and rerouting the water pipes through the walls or attic using durable and flexible PEX piping. If more than one water line is damaged, a complete pipe replacement may be required.

Slab leaks really can compromise the structural integrity of your home. If you don’t address the problem of slab leaks in your home, water damage from these leaks can eventually lead to the formation of mold and provide a nesting ground for termites. This poses a serious health risk to you, your family and any other occupants of your home. Additionally, if you don’t complete a timely slab leak repair, you’ll be paying a lot more than you need to on your water bills.

Please contact us today so that we can detect and repair any slab leaks your home may have.
