- Next, fill a cup with ice cubes and pour a cup of salt on top of them. Then, drop them into the garbage disposal and turn it on. This too will make quite a bit of noise, but the crunching of the ice is actually cleaning your blades, not destroying them!
- Lastly, allow some cold water to run down your garbage disposal and add some lemon juice or lemon wedges to the drain – this will help things start to smell fresh once again.
