We’re thrilled to announce our latest partnership and hiring initiative: The Veteran’s Workforce Development Program!
This new program will offer hands-on training opportunities to our nation’s heroes — provided they have been honorably discharged, drug tested and have passed a background check. In order to qualify completely, veterans must also possess an active driver’s license.
The Veteran’s Workforce Development Program has two main components — in-class training and in-field training. In-class training consists of 16 hours of customer service, personal branding and sales process training; 40 hours of Orange County PHCC ‘Work Ready” trade service program training; and the opportunity to earn an OSHA 10 Safety Certification. In-field training will follow once the in-class requirements are met, for a total of eight weeks. On top of that, WD Network Professionals will also provide each veteran with insurance, liability and workman’s compensation.
“We couldn’t be more excited to be given the chance to offer workforce training to our country’s heroes,” said Mike Barker, our fearless leader and President of the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors Association of Orange, Riverside & San Bernardino Counties (PHCC-ORSB. “We’re really looking forward to welcoming two veterans aboard at the end of July.”
In addition to the new Veteran’s Workforce Development Program, Barker and Sons and PHCC-ORSB also offer a 4-Year Plumbing Apprenticeship Training Program, as well as a Ride and Decide Program, aimed specifically at young men and women and high school students looking to enter the workforce upon graduation. The best part? All programs allow students to earn while they learn!
All-in-all, we’re looking forward to another successful year of training the next generation of Barker and Sons plumbers to find leaks, fix plumbing, service sewers, and serve homeowners all over Orange County, California.
