Barker and Sons Offer Comprehensive Training
Comprehensive and detailed training is the foundation for every skilled plumber’s ability to find and fix any problem. The Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors Association (or PHCC for short) oversees training practices and is in charge of certifying and licensing plumbers. We have a PHCC-compliant training center; and, we go one step further by integrating soft skills training into our curriculum.
Soft skills are just as important as technical, hands-on skills for technicians to create a good working experience that leaves you with solutions that will benefit your home. These soft skills include communication, listening, and learning about what our customers are most interested in to preserve their homes. We train our team to always work in your best interests because we believe in establishing a long-lasting relationship with our customers.

We firmly believe that focusing on being involved and supportive of our Orange County community makes us stronger than rivalries or divisions ever could. Plumbing is an essential service that thrives with a network of highly skilled technicians.
That’s why we send a competitor’s technician through schooling every year. We made this decision to honor our son, who passed in 2015. He was a plumber as well, and helping someone else be able to learn a valuable trade and get through school is our way to honor our son’s memory.
In 2023, we were humbled to receive the PHCC’s “Act of Love” reward for this tradition. While we are thankful for the PHCC’s recognition, what makes this practice so gratifying is knowing that our community is supported and bettered with strong, competent plumbers who can best serve their customers.
