National Bath Safety Month

The bathroom is our favorite room in the home but it can also be a bit dangerous! To ensure all ages are free from injury this month and always, turn to these quick tips below:

Never leave children unaccompanied. Children under four years old should never be left in a bath unattended. Just a few inches of water can lead to drowning when no one is watching.

Keep the bathroom dry. Slipping and falling in the bathtub or bathroom can be dangerous. A few ideas for preventing this include non-slip shower or bath strips, installing a grab bar in the shower or tub and adding a non-skid bath mat next to your bathtub or shower.

Test the temperature. Keep your water heater set no higher than 120 degrees to prevent scalding. Even when filling the bathtub, wait until you’ve filled it completely and then test it with your own hand first. Never place your child in the water immediately without checking.

At Barker and Sons, we can replace and install your bathroom shower or tub. Visit our website for more information.

Happy bathing!
