How Does Trenchless Sewer Repair Work?

Let’s set the scene in our sunny Orange County, where the lawns are as green as the orange is sweet. Imagine your home, your sanctuary, suddenly has sewer water that’s backing up into your home.

Traditional sewer repair methods might call for a massive trench right through the middle of your beloved yard. But hold on, there’s a gentler way to repair your sewer line without destroying ground cover, shrubs, and trees in your yard. Let me introduce you to trenchless sewer repair—a cleaner, quicker fix that we at Barker and Sons are happy to provide.

What is Trenchless Sewer Repair?

Trenchless sewer repair is like performing keyhole surgery on your sewer lines. It’s a minimally invasive method that fixes your pipes from the inside out. This method means your roses and your kid’s play area stay intact—because we believe in fixing your drain problems without creating new ones.

How Does Trenchless Sewer Repair Work?

We start with a camera inspection to see what’s really going on inside your sewer lines. Our state-of-the-art technology uses a flexible fiber optic cable with a high-resolution video camera on the tip that transmits images, helping us find where your sewer line is plugged.

This helps our professionally trained technicians pinpoint the problem and determine the condition of your pipes or the cause of the obstruction.

Then, instead of digging up your yard the traditional way, we bore an opening through access points. With this trenchless repair method, we can replace or repair up to a hundred feet of pipe with minimal damage.

Methods of Trenchless Sewer Repair

There are two main methods of trenchless sewer repair: pipe-lining and pipe-bursting. We choose the method of trenchless sewer repair based on the condition of your sewer pipe.

Pipe-Lining

Pipe-Bursting

Pipe-lining is when we dig a singular access hole. We then insert a flexible tube coated with resin, pull it into the damaged pipe, and inflate it. The resin coating hardens, creating a pipe within a pipe or a pipe-lining that protects against corrosion and reinforces your pipe, keeping it from collapsing.

On the other hand, pipe-bursting does not preserve the original pipe. Pipe-bursting is when we dig two access holes, pull a brand new sewer pipe through the hole, and fracture or “burst” the old one.

Why It’s a Wise Choice

We embrace trenchless sewer repair because it mirrors our commitment to care and efficiency.  It’s not just about fixing pipes; it’s about providing peace of mind and protecting what’s dear to you. Trenchless sewer repair is fast, efficient, and, importantly, kind to your surroundings.
